ORGANIZATION
CONDITIONS FOR PARTICIPANTS:
Cyclists must have the physical constitution to endure a 14-day adventure through the Australian bush. Proof of physical fitness by a doctor is required by every participant to avoid health risks during the race .
TEAMS:
A group of 4 to 5 riders can start as a team. Each member of the team has to wear the same jersey and bike short.
ACCOMPANYING PERSON:
It is possible to be accompanied by adults and children over 12 years of age. Each rider has the possibility to organize his own accompanying person (masseur, mechanic, …).
STAFF:
Helpers for the organization are welcome (application on request).
EQUIPMENT:
Mountain bike: Complete bike (at least one spare set of wheels, spare parts and tools in particular for special bikes or components are recommended).
Camping gear: Tent, sleeping bag, iso-mattress, cutlery, plate and a cup. When choosing your camping equipment remember that temperatures can drop to 0°C at night.
Drinking bottles: Each participant gets 10 bottles from the organization.
REGULATIONS
- Helmets compulsory: Every competitor is obliged to wear a helmet during the whole race. Neglecting of this security requirement will lead to immediate disqualification of the competitor. Should there be a damage to the helmet caused by cracks or breakages, replacement helmets will be provided by the race organization.
- Every competitor is obliged to ride the full distance of the race on a mountain bike. It is allowed to change wheel with other competitors.
Prizes: prizes in categories will only be paid if there are at least five racers in a category.
- Overall leader, points leader and fastest woman are obliged to wear the leaders jersey with sponsorship-labels provided by the race management. There mustn't be any alterations made on the sponsorship-labels because the promoter must be visible. Personal sponsorship-labels are allowed on leaders jersey (front side underneath the official sponsorship-labels), however maximum size of 25x25 cm mustn't be exceeded.
- Numbers mustn't be manipulated, reduced in size or thrown away.
- By neglecting of the above mentioned regulations, the jury decides whether, the rider will be fined or disqualified:
1st offence: AUD$ 500
2nd offence: AUD$1.500
3rd offence: Disqualification
- Protests and punishments will be treated by the jury.
- The jury also decides upon disagreements of rules interpretations and upon all offences not specifically mentioned in the regulations.
- Assistance during the race (food, drinks and material) from unofficial cars is forbidden (exceptions are possible).
