World Cup: #5 XC, DH, #4 4-X July 12-13, 2003 Grouse Mountain, Canada
Wet and muddy conditions greeted the riders at the fifth World Cup stop at Grouse Mountain in Vancouver, Canada. The fourth world cup at Telluride, Colorado was
cancelled.
Europeans dominated the men's cross-country race. Roel Paulissen (BEL) took first with Jose Antonio Hermida (ESP) coming in second and Julien Absalon (FRA) taking third. In the women's race, Gunn-Rita Dahle (NOR) continued to be a force on the circuit, taking first. Alison Sydor (CAN) came second and Susan Haywood (USA) took third. In the much anticipated downhill, the US men took first and third place. Gary Houseman (USA) won the top spot, followed by Moreno Oulego (ESP). Kirt Voreis (USA) rounded out the podium. Fionn Griffiths (GBR) blasted through the women's field to first, with Sabrina Jonnier (FRA) taking second, and Kathy Pruitt (USA) coming third. In the gruelling four-cross, Mike King (USA) and Eric Carter (USA) took the top two spots with Michal Prokop (CZE) taking third. On the women's side, Katrina Miller (AUS) took first while Sabrina Jonnier (FRA) took second and Tai-Lee Muxlow (AUS) came third.
